Animals Wetlands are important for the animals because they provide shelter/habitat like snags which are tall dead trees which are great for providing habitat for the birds that live in the wetland. The wetland is a great place for animals to hide from predator's like a rodent hiding from an eagle or other birds. So, wetlands provide great shelter and habitat. 2. Plants Wetlands are vital to the plants because plants need water and some areas, they cannot get water because it could be too dry which is why wetlands are important for the plants because wetlands are pretty much always wet or at least damp and sometimes dry but still damp underneath the soil. 3. Water Wetlands helps the water because it makes the water cleaner than it was before it came in. So, when the water comes in it is most likely dirty, but the wetlands filter out pollution's in the rain and storm runoff. "The Washington Department of Ecology estimates that one-third of all the polluted waters in the state are polluted by stormwater runoff. Stormwater pollution has contributed to closing thousands of acres of productive shellfish growing beaches. Stormwater runoff can also close swimming beaches and contaminate drinking water supplies." Said King County. “The polluted runoff then rushes into nearby gutters and storm drains and into Puget Sound's streams, lakes, rivers and bays. In most areas, stormwater runoff enters these waters without being cleaned of pollutants..” said King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks but if there is a wetland the plants, soil, and water that is in the wetland filters out the pollution's in the water so when the water goes in the Puget Sound it is clean. So now you know why wetlands are vital for the animals, plants, and water. Wetlands are important for the environment because they supply shelter for birds and animals. It also helps because plants need water and the wetland is wet. Therefore, the wetland is vital for the environment so, that is why we should help restore the wetland.
